Oils reinforce skin barrier to reduce water loss and improve hydration
Tight feelings in the skin may mean the skin barrier (it’s the thin lipid seal between outer cells) is weak. When that seal is reinforced, TEWL (transepidermal water loss, or water lost through skin) decreases and leaves the surface smoother. I really like that the sweet almond oil here can provide softening surface fats that slip between outer cells and close tiny gaps so moisture stays put. GLA, a plant fat your skin uses to rebuild its own moisture-sealing fats, is found in evening primrose oil and may help the seal stay flexible instead of cracking. In a randomized, placebo-controlled 12-week trial, people taking evening primrose oil showed higher skin hydration, lower TEWL, and better elasticity than placebo. What interests me about the diversity of oils in this product is that they each have strengths that can help reinforce the skin barrier, so you have more thorough coverage with each use.†

Oils reinforce skin barrier to reduce water loss and improve hydration
I recommend this oil to patients who want to soothe irritated skin and achieve a more even skin tone. The base oils can help protect the skin’s barrier, while antioxidants may gradually improve tone. Rosehip oil, one of the key ingredients, can provide antioxidants. Additionally, Vitamin A precursors like beta-carotene may help reduce the effects of sun exposure and pollution. In a small pilot study, people who used rosehip oil regularly had fewer UV spots and less redness after several weeks. Another study found that using rosehip powder improved skin moisture, elasticity, and the appearance of wrinkles over eight weeks. Although the study used an ingested form of rosehip powder, the oil application may offer the same promising benefits. I believe the outcomes are relevant and may be reasonably extended to the body oil’s goal of promoting healthier-looking skin. I recommend this oil to my patients because I find it has strong potential to support daily skin health.†

Clinician reviews powered by

This clinician wants to clarify that larger-scale research to support their product claims is still developing.

What does 'Clinician Reviewed' mean?

These reviews were collected by an independent third party, FrontrowMD, who shares free samples with clinicians so that they have the option to either try the product themselves or share it with patients in their practice.

FrontrowMD then asks as many of them as possible to share their thoughts about the product in an independent review, without compensating them. If helpful to save the clinicians time, we provide one or more pre-drafted reviews that they are welcome to edit or submit as they see fit. Any submitted review reflects the clinicians' genuine views and/or experiences with the product.

Additionally, health brands must publish all detailed reviews, even negative reviews that have clinical rationale for why they do not recommend this product.

If they submit a review, we offer a 30% discount for all their patients on that product, which is double the standard discount clinicians can offer patients through the FrontrowMD discounts page platform.

We hope these reviews help you understand whether this is a safe and effective product, as explained by medical experts.

Who is FrontrowMD?

Various oils can smooth and reduce rough skin texture
I suggest adding this body oil to your skincare routine for those of you who want extra help maintaining and improving your skin texture. For my patients, I share this oil as an option to supplement skin health because of its positive potential to improve skin texture. Dry or rough texture often develops when the outer layer loses flexibility and surface cells don’t lie flat. The oils that make up this body oil can help soften that surface. Sweet almond oil provides emollient triglycerides, which are skin-softening fats that cushion the edges where surface cells meet. This cushioning may reduce microscopic roughness and help the skin feel more springy. Patchouli can support this effect by spreading into a thin, even film. Because it’s slow-evaporating, that film remains longer on the surface, filling tiny dry spaces so skin feels smoother throughout the day.†

May help support skin resilience in areas that bend and stretch most
Skin often feels its driest in places that move the most (like elbows, knees, and other joints) where stretching can strain the surface. I recommend this oil because it has vitamin E and great botanicals that can support comfort in those areas. Vitamin E is oil-soluble, so it blends into the skin’s lipid layer and helps keep moisture sealed in. Lavender contributes natural compounds such as linalool and linalyl acetate, which may calm irritation that sometimes develops when the skin is under stress. These ingredients may help skin stay smoother, more supple, and resilient even in the spots that bend and stretch all day.†

Rosehip can encourage cell renewal and support the top layer of the skin
I recommend trying this blend because each oil supports the top layer of your skin in its own way. For example, rosehip oil can make the skin feel smoother. It can do this because it contains good vitamin A compounds that help your skin shed old cells regularly. If dead cells don’t shed quickly, they can stick together and form rough patches, flakes, or even small cracks that might hurt. This can also make your skin lose moisture and feel stiff. As these clumps clear, your skin can look more even and be less reactive. Other components of rosehip oil, like linoleic acid, can strengthen the skin, ensuring even better moisture retention.†

Can restore softness and radiance while easing daily skin discomfort
If you’re looking for options that not only hydrate but also help your skin feel more comfortable day to day, I would recommend this body oil. What I like about this body oil is that it combines nourishing oils with botanicals that can support visible improvements. Rosehip, for example, can provide antioxidants that can brighten dull tones, while geranium can calm redness so the surface looks more even. Lavender can add a nice aroma that I find relaxing, especially when skin feels tight after bathing. On top of that, patchouli may help the blend spread evenly, leaving the skin smooth and with an even tone. Altogether, I think it’s a good oil for skin health, and may help skin appear softer and more radiant, while also making it feel more comfortable through daily wear.†
